Stephen Marsh Obituary

Dr. Stephen Frank Marsh
In loving memory of Dr. Stephen Frank Marsh, 69, who passed away peacefully at his home, with family by his side, on June 8, 2024. Steve was born on December 14, 1954, in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Frank Dennis Marsh and Martha Susanna Huber. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Michele Gould Marsh; his sister, Susan Amy Leibling and her husband, Larry Liebling of Maine. Predeceased by his brother, David Sterling Marsh.
Steve grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. He loved the great outdoors and staying active. Steve was a member of the Brandywine High School swimming and wrestling teams. Every summer, Steve would visit his family's Mountain Air Farm in Jasper, New York, where everyone would help tend to the land and the animals. He attended North Carolina State before receiving his PhD. in Plant Pathology at Gettysburg College, where he studied corn and fungi.
Steve was self-employed, refurbishing vintage audio. He was a writer for Absolute Sound and 6 Moons Magazines, and a member of the CT Audio Society. Steve was an avid runner, fisherman, and enjoyed attending the gym with his wife, Michele. Together they also enjoyed biking, hiking, playing tennis, and searching for seasonal mushrooms.
He will be remembered as a very honorable man. He crafted his time on earth with a curious mind, a passion for nature, and a love for science and music, all with excellence and mastery.
Friends are invited to visit with his family from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Thursday, June 13th, followed by a Funeral Service celebrating his life at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. The burial will be private. Donations in Steve's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. It was a pleasure to have known you. Although we pretty much only interacted in high school I appreciated your friendship.

Just heard about Steve´s passing. We wrestled together on the Brandywine HS team 1969-72. Later we all shared a beach house in Wildwood Crest, NJ the summer of 76´ after we graduated from our respective universities. You were a good man and I´m fortunate to have known you. RIP.

"Steveo" was a great friend of mine! I will miss him dearly. He taught me about the environment and nature. We hiked a lot together and had many laughs. A true friend indeed.

Michele
My sincere condolences for the loss of your dear Stephen.
Steve was a very big part of my high school friend group, adored for his sweet and kind disposition.

Was happy to reconnect through facebook And then to meet/hang out with y'all at our 45th BHS High School Reunion. Know that he loved you dearly, and was so proud of you.

Thank you for keeping in contact, through the years.
Greatly appreciated that we got the chance to have one last telephone conversation with Steve and you.

He will be missed. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Very saddened to hear of Steve's passing. He was my vintage audio expert who helped me out many times over the years. He was a very classy guy and will be missed by many.

Dear Michele,
We are so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He helped Kenzo greatly with his audio equipment over the past few years. It was certainly a shock as we did not know Steve was ill. The last time we saw him was Sept. 2022. Please accept our sincere condolences.

I knew Steve professionally, but we quickly established a friendship from our common interests. I miss you, Steve. I wish there was more time, but I'm fortunate to having known you.

Over the years, Steve always exemplified a true audiophile to me. His sound systems were always a level above what I knew. On several occasions Steve taught me insights about live and recorded music that I thought I had figured out and hadn't. Most special, he invited me to Yale University Woolsey Hall to experience The Rite of Spring in his prime concert seats. To this day, it sets the standard for how amazing any live performance can sound. I was spellbound. We both chuckled that there was no system on planet earth that could come close to reproducing this amazing experience.

I didn´t spend as much time with Steve as I would have wished. I will miss him. RIP Steve.

To Michele, and all of Steve's family and friends, please accept my sincere condolences. I have never known anyone as honorable, honest, and trustworthy as Steve. He was also smart as a whip and had a great sense of humor. A truly great person has left the planet, and he will be sorely missed.
