Sylvia Claxton Obituary
Sylvia Claxton departed this life suddenly at her home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in Hamden CT. She was born in Beaumont Village, Nevis, West Indies and resettled in New Haven, CT.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory five children, daughters, Claudette Collins (James), Charlene Claxton (Seybany); sons, Cardinal Ward (Cheryl), Michael and Eric Claxton.
Sylvia also leaves to cherish her memory sisters, Mildred Stanley, Ursula "Estelle" Martin (Rowan); brothers, Limmington, Eddie (Margaret), Calvin (Ruth) and Rondad (Marcia) Ward; her dear sister-in-law Heather Ward, and a host of other loving family and friends.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents George and Fredrica Ward; sisters, Mavis Ward, Francil Hull; sister and brother-in-law Bernice and Johnny Walters; brothers, Charles and Wendell Ward, and her beloved sister-in-law Myra Ward. Sylvia will be greatly missed.
A Walk-Thru visitation will take place Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511.
