FERDINA, SYLVIA (BETTY) ELIZABETH GAZSI Sylvia (Betty) Elizabeth Gazsi Ferdina, 83, of Seymour, the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Warren M. Ferdina entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 14, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Derby, CT on May 29, 1931 the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Harla) Gazsi. She retired as the secretary at The Church of the Good Shepherd of Seymour. She served as an Eucharistic Minister at the Church of the Good Shepherd where she was a devout communicant. Betty was a member and past trustee of Our Lady Society of the church and was a graduate of Shelton High School, Class of 1948. She was an avid homemaker who loved cooking, reading, gardening (flowers) and travel. Betty loved chocolate covered raisins and peanut butter stuffed pretzels. She enjoyed being with her family and many friends and will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. Her loving family includes her cherished daughter Karen Carr and her husband Frederick (Ricky) of Naugatuck, a devoted brother William Gazsi and his wife Jean of Shelton, a loving sister Judith Ehlers of Seymour, two caring nieces and one nephew. Betty was predeceased by her beloved daughter Susan Elizabeth Marsillio and her dear friend The Reverend Martin T. Keane. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (opposite Klarides Village, Rt. 67) Seymour, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd. Seymour. Interment in the family plot at St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
