THELMA B. "TEMMY" PODHEISER

Podheiser, Thelma B. "Temmy" (Johnson). Beloved wife of the late Julius L. Podheiser, "Julie." Temmy died on August 1, 2017, age 92. She is survived by her sister Frances and Frances' husband, Gilbert Rimer; sisters-in-law Rita Johnson and Sylvia Johnson; her children Linda Podheiser and James Podheiser and his wife, Nancy Axelrod; grandchildren Lucy (Podheiser) Kratchman and her husband, Brian, Alexandra Shaw, Daniel Podheiser and his wife Ashley, and Amir Podheiser; great-grandchildren Hannah Kratchman and Duncan Podheiser, and many nieces and nephews. Temmy was the fourth child in a family of seven siblings who remained close and loving all their lives. She was the daughter of the late Alex and Catherine Goldstone Johnson and sister of the late Anita Cooper, Jerome Johnson, Eleanor Lowell, Myron Johnson and Harold Johnson. Temmy grew up in Hamden and New Haven, and after attending secretarial college met and married Julie, a marriage that lasted 65 years until Julie's death in 2012. She was a wonderful cook, good at games and cards, and had taste and beauty without pretension. Most of all, she was open-hearted and loved people, treasuring family and the many friends with whom she shared her life, and who treasured her in return. Funeral Services will be held at B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, 200 Wintergreen Ave, New Haven on Friday morning August 4,2017 at 11:00 o'clock.
