Toni Elissa Ames (Benner) age 73, of Seymour, formerly of Woodbridge, she passed peacefully on August 19, 2021 after a brief illness and a valiant fight for life. She was the beloved mother, sister, daughter and friend who loved antiquing, thrifting, eating pop tarts and enjoying her daily dose of Coca Cola.
She is survived by her mother Eleanor Wallace; brother Michael Ames; and three daughters: Jamie Benner, Danielle Benner (Matthew Roskowski) and Alexa Benner. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Mason and Calla Benner. She was predeceased by her sister Donna Marie and her brother Ralph Wallace. Toni was an avid reader and extreme bibliophile who worked as a Library Media Specialist for both the Stratford and Waterbury Public School Systems. A Memorial Service of Requiem Eucharist will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 Church St., Seymour at 2 p.m. on August 29th; Toni's family is asking people to wear yellow as it was her favorite color. It will be a simple service, but a big celebration of her life! The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour is entrusted with the arrangements. As the years pass, I miss Toni and her mother more and more. She was so brave in facing her final illness. She was never at a loss for words, and sometimes you didn´t know who she was talking about! But it was always entertaining. May she rest in peace.

I continue to pray for Toni and miss her even more. I miss her unique perspective on life and the world and laughing about the differences between us. She was definitely more "chill" than I and it was a joke we often shared. God bless you, Toni.

I continue to pray for Toni and her family. She was very bright yet down to earth, and I always enjoyed talking with her. Right to the end, she was making jokes and bringing smiles to everyone. Big loss. Rest In Peace, dear sister-in-law.

Toni was very funny, smart and totally devoted to her daughters and her mom, Eleanor. I´ll always smile when I think of her, she was a life force.

I will always keep my sister-in-law Toni in my heart and remember her intelligence, sense of humor and warmth. And I will never forget her loquaciousness either-she liked to talk and that made me feel right at home when I first met her more than 40 years ago! She was so unpretentious and friendly, a great aunt to my children and wonderful relative to me. God bless her and her children and grandchildren.
