Wanda Ramadon Obituary

Ramadon, Wanda Jean Wanda Jean (Scovel) Ramadon, 71, died suddenly after a brief illness at Yale New Haven Hospital on Monday, January 27, 2014. Her husband of twenty-five years, Raymond E. Ramadon, Jr., was by her side. Wanda was born on November 10, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN, to Jack and Jean (Beamsley) Scovel. At age eleven, after the death of her mother, she went to live with her maternal grandmother, Emma Miller Beamsely, in Delavan, Wisconsin. When her father remarried, she became the loving step-daughter of Ruth Scovel. She spent her adolescence in Fairfax, Virginia and graduated in 1960 from Fairfax High School. She spent her entire professional career working for Aetna Insurance. Beginning at age eighteen in a DC office, she traveled throughout her career, ultimately working in Hartford and then Middletown, CT. Once a resident of Cromwell and Rocky Hill, CT, she settled in West Haven with her husband over 22 years ago. Retired from Aetna, Wanda enjoyed fishing, shopping, reading, traveling, aqua-aerobics with friends at the West Haven High pool and was a lot of fun to be around. She was an excellent grammie who adored spoiling her grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was a terrific cook, especially food from her mid-western and southern heritage. She was kind, loving and generous. Wanda was a good woman. Our hearts are heavy. She will be profoundly missed. She is survived by her loving husband Raymond E. “Chip” Ramadon, Jr., stepchildren Adrienne (Ramadon) Donovan and spouse Lawrence Donovan of Rockland, MA, Raymond E. Ramadon III and spouse, Samantha, of Deerfield Beach, FL, grandchildren Faith Ramadon and Henry and Jacob Donovan. She was also a loving sister to Carrol (Scovel) Beard and spouse, the late Herman Beard, of Virginia and Jon Scovel and wife Sue of Colorado. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and their children as well as numerous cousins. According to her wishes, Wanda will be cremated. Visitation hours are Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Wanda’s name to Saving Little Hearts, a child cardiac disease organization: http://www.savinglittlehearts.com/you-can-help/. Dear Ray, I was devastated to hear about Wanda. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Wanda was always full of life and laughter, and I was privileged to work with her from 1972 when we both worked in Aetna claims and played softball together, until my retirement (and hers)some 30 years later. God bless you and your family. Now there is a new angel in heaven.
