William Bietz Obituary

William H. Bietz
December 18, 2022
William Henry Bietz, age 58, of Branford, passed away peacefully at his home on December 18, 2022. He was the devoted husband of more than 24 years to his wife Jane (Stoddard), and a wonderful father to their two children, Spencer and Allie. Bill grew up in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania with his mother, the late Barbara Joyce Bietz, and his two brothers Chris and Tom Bietz. In addition to his wife, children and brothers, Bill is also survived by his nephews, C.J., Brock and Brandon Bietz of Brookville, Pennsylvania.
Bill graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1984, and immediately joined the U.S. Navy. He served for six years, with most of that time being on an aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Lexington. Bill was always grateful for his time in the Navy and was honored to serve his country. Bill married Jane in 1998 and was a devoted family man right from the start. Bill treated Jane's family as if they were his own, and constantly put the needs of all his family members before his own.
Bill was an IT Manager at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, where he worked for more than twenty-two years and was well liked by all who knew him. He loved a challenge and was very good at what he did. Bill would often bring home broken computers to fix for friends, always with a smile and no expectation of anything in return.
Bill was an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks, the Pittsburgh Penguins and UConn women's basketball, but he loved all kinds of sports. He especially loved to see his children play and was involved in their sports in many ways, including volunteer coaching and acting as team photographer. Bill also loved music, his dogs, and playing guitar.
Above all, Bill had a warm and generous spirit and an amazing outlook on life, even through the hardships. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. A funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 at Stony Creek Congregational Church, 192 Thimble Island Road, Branford, with burial to follow in Branford Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Daniel Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford.

Bill, even though you rooted for the Seahawks, you were the best. A great mentor and leader to your team. A dedicated employee to the Court. Your abilities and knowledge supported every corner of our district, and your humor and quick wit were always at the ready. You will be deeply missed.

I was saddened to learn of Bill´s passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I came to know Bill when I worked with him at the federal court. He was smart, kind and generous. I know he will be missed by all including his coworkers, judges, attorneys, CSOs, and many others. Sincerely, Robin DeKam Tabora, Retired Clerk, U.S. District Court.

To the Bietz Family- I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I worked several years in court with Bill, and a nicer man you could not find. He always helped us security officers anytime we needed anything. He actually fixed the laptop I'm typing on now and would not take anything in return. We would go to our in-house Deli and pay for his lunch or breakfast without him knowing, and when he went to pay, they would tell him it was taken care of. He was so proud of his family and always kept up updated on their activities and I always enjoyed talking with him. Rest in Peace buddy.

So very sorry for your loss. I worked with Bill at the court for many years. He was our IT McGuyver, always making things work, and with a smile. And he introduced the office Groundhog Day celebration. So sad to learn of his passing. With deepest sympathy, Debbie Hunt

I grew up with Billy and his brothers. They were like my older brothers. Their mom my second mom. I know I didn´t keep in touch like I should have. However always held him in my thoughts and heart. Every time I see the Seahawks play I always knew he was cheering for them. I used to give him such a hard time in high school about that

I am sending my thoughts and prayers to you, his family. May you find comfort in remembering all the time you had together. Remember he will be with you always

Rest in peace my friend.
