Edward MacWilliams Obituary

WAYNE - Edward F. MacWilliams, 79, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 in Warwick, N.Y.

Born on May 22, 1929 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edward Wienberg and Anne Lawrence and step-son of the late Edward MacWilliams.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired systems analyst with IBM, where he worked for 26 years. Previously, he worked for Union Carbide. An avid bowler, he bowled with IBM and many other leagues, having bowled a perfect game. He played semi-pro golf and loved sports, especially the Yankees and the Giants.

A family statement read, "He was a well-read, intelligent and very patient man with a wonderful sense of humor."

Mr. MacWilliams is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Zumba MacWilliams; three daughters, Donna Meier and her husband, Ken, of Montgomery, Susan Paladino and her husband, Marc, of Hamburg, and Cindy Vander Plaat and her husband, Roger, of Warwick, N.Y.; and six grandchildren, Kelly, Steven, Kevin, Matthew, Jack and Skyler. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Eve MacWilliams of Atlanta, Ga., the wife of his late brother, Dr. Peter MacWilliams.

Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.

Mrs. Vander Plaat, I work part time with Rodger at his Newfoundland location.
