James MacClellan Obituary

BATH, Pa. -- James "Jay" F. MacClellan, 76, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 in Allentown, Pa. Born in Hackettstown on Oct. 25, 1932, Jay had lived there until moving to Bath in 1998.

Jay worked for Ultrapoly Plastics in Hackettstown, the Hackettstown DPW, and was the owner of MacClellan Motors in Hackettstown, which is now the Trinity United Methodist ChurchÕs Trinity House building.

He was a member and past chief of the Hackettstown Volunteer Fire Department and was honored to be the grand marshall of the Hackettstown Fire DepartmentÕs parade in 2001. He was a 55-year member and past master of the F. & A.M. Independence Lodge No. 42 of Hackettstown.

The son of the late Frederick and Laura (Dickson) MacClellan, James is survived by his wife, Klauska ÔKathyÕ MacClellan, of Muncy, Pa.; five sons, Frederick MacClellan of Weldon, S.C., Patrick J. MacClellan and his fiancŽ, Nancy Scarlett, of Lebanon Township, Donald J. and his wife, Christine Brodeur, of Washington Township, Richard J. MacClellan of Allentown, and Paul V. MacClellan and his wife, Sharon, of Freehold; a daughter, Marilyn, of Chester, Va.; eight granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday at noon at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Main Street, Hackettstown. A reception will follow at the Trinity House building, located on Moore Street. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Hackettstown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in JayÕs memory to the Hackettstown Fire Department, 215 Stiger Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Online condolences can be offered at www.cochranfuneral.com.

My mother Lois Apgar Woods was a childhood friend of Jay's. Many stories she told of her childhood involved Jay and his mother Laura. I know the families had a lot of fun. My mom passed away in April 2006. Please accept my sympathy in the passing of Jay.
