Josephine Burner Obituary

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Josephine Burner, 88, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., formerly of Mt. Bethel, Pa., died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in East Stroudsburg, Pa.

Born in New York, N.Y., Mrs. Burner lived in Dumont, then lived in Mt. Bethel, Pa., before moving to East Stroudsburg, Pa. She was employed by Parents Magazine in Bergenfield before her retirement. Mrs. Burner was an avid bowler.

The daughter of the late Jules and Martha (Bower) Ruelens, Mrs. Burner was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Burner; her son, Alfred Burner Jr.; six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Penelope A. Gronenthal and husband, William, of Andover Township; two granddaughters, Lisa McCaughey and husband, Michael, of Hampton Township and Caroline Harding and husband, James, of Andover Township; and five great-grandchildren, Nicolle, Taylor, Jimmy Jr., Sydney and Colin.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 20, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by entombment of cremains at Newton Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Foundation, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148. Online condolences may be offered at www.smithmccrackenfuneralhome.com.
