Robert F. Colville

FREDON - Robert F. Colville, 84, of Fredon, died June 24, at Lyons VA Medical Center in Basking Ridge.
Born in Albany, N.Y., Robert was raised in Rensselaer, N.Y., and moved to Sussex County in 1973. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Robert was a truck driver for Crown Cork & Seal of North Bergen before his retirement in 1977. A member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, Robert was also a member of Teamster Local 560 of New Jersey. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
The son of the late James Henry and Claire (Soulier) Colville, Robert was a devoted husband to his late wife, Arlene (Bale), who died in 2002. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Bonnie Colville, in 2007. Robert is survived by two sons, Robert F. Colville, Jr., and wife, Jean, of Hampton Township, and Keith Colville and wife, Mickey, of Fredon; his seven grandchildren, Anthony Colville, Allison Colville, Jennifer Colville, John Colville, Crystal Colville, Thomas Van Vleet, and Christopher Van Vleet; as well as numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Colville, of Watervliet, N.Y.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, June 28, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m., Friday, June 29, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery in Newton.
