David Franklin Obituary

David Edman Franklin October 5, 1943 - March 4, 2024 It was Monday morning March 4th; the sun was shining bright the day Dave passed into heaven. He was peaceful and ready to go.

Dave arrived in Cle Elum in June 2001 to look for a place to move. I, Judy, arrived at the same time to look for my place to live. We both bought condos in the old high school right across from each other. We soon became walking and hiking partners. We married 13 months later and had a fun, happy marriage with gratitude every day. Dave and I were best friends and adopted Lucas, our Yorkie, 5 years later. He walked with us every day and is still a loyal member of the family.

Dave loved the Upper County with all his new friends, loving everyone and accepting everyone for just who they were. Dave and I laughed every day and were so grateful for every day. Dave started Roslyn Walking Tours five years ago. People came from everywhere. He gave tours of Roslyn, Roslyn Cemetery and Northern Exposure TV series buildings. He loved the people he met and really loved Roslyn.

Dave worked for Jeff James Oil Truck Stop, knew almost all of the truck drivers and he was the janitor of our condo building. He was full of energy and enjoyed all his jobs along with the people. Dave also worked with Mike Kidder, in A Garden Spot, making compost to share with the community. It was a well-lived life that lasted 22 years together.

David Edman Franklin was born October 5, 1943, in Hugo, Oklahoma. He was the sixth of seven children. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Forrest and Bertha Franklin. Dave's siblings are Julie Franklin Teska, Ruth Franklin Smay, Sam Franklin and Carol Franklin Sutton. Dave was preceded in death by siblings Ann Franklin Moore and Forrest Franklin. Dave was also proud to be the son-in-law of J.D. and Mary Lou Colclasure. He has three children; Imelda Franklin Bogue, Johnson Franklin and Oliver Franklin, whom he loved and was very proud of. He also dearly loved his grandsons James Bogue and Dominick Bogue.

The family moved to Auburn, WA in 1956. Dave graduated in 1961. He attended college and served in the United States Army Security Agency in Southeast Asia as a Chinese linguist.

We will all remember Dave with a smile and his kindness. There was never any judgment.

There will be a celebration of life in the late spring. All will be welcomed.

Judy,
So sorry to hear about David. Don and I surely did enjoy our conversation with you and David last summer at the Roslyn Cemetery.
