Gay Ritchey Obituary
Gay was born in Yakima, WA, in 1931, the only child of Ronald and Alma Ashurst. A staple in the Roslyn and Cle Elum communities, Gay became the Roslyn postmaster in 1965.
After marrying her husband Bruce Ritchey, the two moved to Alaska in 1971, a place that they truly loved and cherished.
Gay always took pride in her involvement in the Emblem Club. After becoming a charter member of the Valdez Affiliated Emblem Club in 1978, she went on to serve as the Club's President. In 1995 she served as the Alaska State President, an honor that she held in the highest regard.
Always proper, polished, and composed, Gay loved her family and friends that became family. There was always an open door, a smile and a drink waiting.
Gay was preceded in death by her father, Ronald, her mother, Alma, and her husband Bruce. She is survived by her son, Allan and his wife Louise, her three grandchildren, Nycole, Patty and Todd, and numerous great-grandchildren.
