Karen Louise (Olson) Fitzmaurice May 10, 1943 - July 30, 2024 Karen Louise (Olson) Fitzmaurice, a beacon of kindness touching the lives of her family and friends, sadly passed away on July 30, 2024 at Evergreen Hospital, Kirkland, Washington. She died of complications of gallbladder surgery. Born in Tacoma, Washington to Olaf S. Olson and Dorothy Mae (Danko) Olson on May 10, 1943. She was 81 years young at the time of her death.
Karen spent her younger years living in Teanaway/
Cle Elum, Washington then the family moved to Moses Lake, Washington in 1956. She graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1961 and Central Washington University in 1965. She retired from The Boeing Company Procurement Department in 2009 - having worked her final years in Italy and Japan supporting Boeing major subcontractors. She made many friends during her career.
Karen loved to travel and explore the world with family, friends and through her work. She traveled to Australia, Israel, China, Japan, Thailand, Africa, and extensively through Europe. She loved experiencing different cultures and gleaning what she could from other country's lifestyles, customs, and traditions.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Dorothy Olson. She is survived by her loving family; her sisters, Mary Ann Byeman (Jack) and Nancy Ensign (Gale); nieces and nephews - Tom Byeman (Sarah), Suzanne Rietema (Brad), Marcus Byeman (Stephanie), Garrett Ensign (Cori) and Erika Searle (Jon). Also, 13 great nieces/nephews have shared in her love and giving nature. She was Auntie Karen to more than can be listed. She leaves a legacy of giving and kindness, believing that when you give of yourself is when you truly give - not asking for anything in return.

Wounded Warriors Project or any charity that serves our country's veterans.
A Celebration of Life for Karen will be August 17, 2024 at 3pm in the Fellowship Hall at Kelsey Creek Church 1221 148th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98007.
