Susan was my second friend after Mary Bird at Morgan Junior High. We were the country kids and grew up sharing similar values, a finely honed work ethic, fierce loyalties and the ability to create our own fun. Susan was my most talented friend . . . I mean, who else has a piece of fiction published in a national magazine when they were in high school? Who else goes to Washington D.C. to compete in a national sewing contest sponsored by the National Wool Association while a high school junior? Who else is a prolific reader, prolific writer, expert pianist, straight A student, and a normal high school kid? Who else looks out a high school bus window at a tall, blue-eyed handsome upper classman, says, "I will marry him" and then does?
Who goes to Washington, D.C. after graduating from college and becomes a personal assistant to Patricia Nixon? No one I have even known aside from Susan.
She was a classic beauty, classic. She was raucously fun. She is memorable. I miss her.

Condolences to Susan´s family. We were good friends in high school. Susan was beautiful, intelligent, and kind to everyone. We reconnected in Washington DC where we both lived for a few years. After that we lost touch, but I´ll never forget some wonderful shared experiences. May she rest in peace.

I was sorry to see that Susan has passed. So many times when the Taylor family and the Campbell family got together, fun memories were made whether it be sledding down the hills of Reecer Creek during the annual Christmas tree hunt, or just spending time together, eating good food and well as keeping warm on top of the coal stove that would working hard to heat the house. It is hard to lose someone but fond memories that are left behind will never die. RIP Susan, you are gone but never forgotten by those who loved you.

In loving memory of Susan . . . a high school and college friend. My memories of Susan's beauty, soft presence and intellect are vivid. Here she is with sister Patty (left) and sister Peggy (far right).
