Tim Haase Obituary
Tim Andrew Haase November 7, 1954 - January 30, 2022 Tim was born to the late Richard Lee Haase of Cle Elum, WA and Louise Petrich Haase of Cle Elum, WA on November 7, 1954 in Ellensburg, WA. Tim spent his early years in Cle Elum, where his grandparents Augie and Mary Petrich, and Maynard and Mary Haase also lived. After divorcing, Louise married Robert Oscar Iverson of Centralia, WA. They spent time in Poulsbo, WA and later settled in Bellevue, WA, where they were both school teachers. Three more sons were added to the family and it was a happy home full of boys. Tim was the ultimate big brother to all, especially to Rob, because they were so close in age. He spent weekends in the summer with his father on the east side of the Cascades Mountains, hunting, fishing and enjoying the rural lifestyle.
Tim was a phenomenal athlete from an early age, and a standout Little League pitcher and Boys Club basketball player. In 1968, his family went to live in Lutterworth, England for a year, as his stepfather, Robert, had earned a Fulbright Scholarship for the Teachers Exchange Program. Tim loved the blossoming music scene during this time.
In the summer months, all 6 of the family members would travel across Europe in a Volkswagen van to the former Yugoslavia (now Croatia), to visit relatives. When Tim returned to Washington, he began to focus on basketball and would achieve a First Team All-District Award. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1973, and then went on to attend Central Washington University on a full basketball scholarship. Sadly, a year later, he sustained a knee injury that would end his college basketball career.
Tim spent many years living in Cle Elum, where he worked as a Logger, a job he dearly loved. More injuries forced him to choose another path and he became an over the road truck driver. He met his future wife, Tamara Cobb, during this time and followed her to her birthplace in Georgia, where they married, started a family, and made Mansfield, GA their home.
Tim was a big man with a big heart who loved and sacrificed so much for his family. He really loved music and had the chance to see many great bands perform live. He loved logging, hunting elk and mule deer, and fishing for steelhead trout in the rivers of Washington State.
Tim is survived by his wife, Tamara Haase, children Ben and Katherine, brothers Rob Iverson (Cheryl) also of Cle Elum, Garth (Maria), Vince (Sienna). Tim was preceded in death by his father, Richard Haase, and step father, Robert Iverson.
A memorial service for family and close friends took place in Georgia shortly after his passing and a Celebration of Life is being planned for this summer in Cle Elum. Tim will be greatly missed and we are comforted knowing we will all be reunited one day in the house of our Lord Jesus Christ.
