Donald Anthony Baumann

Ft. Thomas - Donald Anthony Baumann, 83, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on September 26, 2018. Don and Judy married in 1954 and just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on September 25, 2018. They raised their 7 children in Fort Thomas, KY. Don served in the United States Naval Construction Battalions (CB), better known as the Seabees, until he was honorably discharged in 1968. He was proud to serve his country in this branch of the Armed Forces for 16 years. Don and Judy joined St. Catherine of Siena in 1961 and Don was an active parishioner taking on several leadership roles. He was instrumental in starting one of the first Religious Education Programs for students in the public school system in the Diocese of Covington. He assisted the Diocese of Covington in designing the framework for Parish Councils to include Parish Life, Administration, Family Life, Social Action and Parish Board of Education. Don had a long, successful career in carpentry and construction. His last position was as Executive Vice President/General Manager of Klenco Construction from 1969 - 1993. After retirement, Don and Judy built a cabin in Adams County, OH, known as "The Woods." Their family celebrates many family holidays there. Don is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Baumann (nee Breitenstein), his brother, Norb (Pauline) Baumann and sisters, Rita Barth and Anna Mae (Barry) Bullen. Children and Chosen Children, Mary Jo and Tim Roth, Bob and Christine Baumann, Amy and Simon Sapsford, Susie and Will Mansfield, Mark and Terri Baumann, Julie and Brett Peterson and Patty and Keith Chalk. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren Elizabeth and Brent Nelson, Katie, Jim and James Black, Maggie, Tony, Nicholas, Juliana and Jude Spagnoli, Liesl Baumann, Katrina Baumann, Molly Baumann, Julia Baumann, Nicholas Sapsford, Lindsay and Dru Boyer, Jenna Sapsford and Cory Laaker, Abby Mansfield and Jeff Zahratka, Seth Mansfield, Erin Baumann and Jarred Martin, Rebecca Baumann and Nolan Verst, Hannah and Aaron Schklar, Eric Peterson, Thomas Chalk and Robert Chalk. And numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandchildren Dean Sapsford, Jacob Baumann and Michelle Chalk, son-in-law LeMaur Roberts, brother, Rev. Edward J. Baumann and sister Mary Grout. Visitation at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, 427 S. Ft. Thomas Ave. (Ft. Thomas) on Sunday (Sept. 30) from 3:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial At St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1803 N. Ft. Thomas Ave., on Monday (Oct. 1) at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Stef Bankemper officiating.
