James Kevin Lawrence

Covington - James Kevin Lawrence was born January 2, 1954 at St Elizabeth Hospital in Covington Kentucky to the late John James Lawrence and late Bertha Lee Hall-Lawrence. Kevin graduated from Holmes High School in 1972 and attended 4 years of college at Northern Ky. University. Straight out of college, he was hired by Cincinnati Bell where he worked over 40 years before retiring. Kevin loved the company and the many friends he made and worked with over the years. After retirement he worked for Alden Systems Inc. Birmingham AL. but decided, again, to retire due to his illness.

Kevin was a life member of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

Kevin met his wife, Pam Baird, through school and church. They dated through college and married in 1976. They had two boys together, Jamie and Jeremy, and were very active with their children. Kevin was the band booster president for Scott High School for 2 years while Jeremy was in the band program and was very active in his church while his children were growing. Although the marriage ended, their friendship did not.

Kevin met his husband, Jason Sayers, in 1998 through a mutual friend and they were together from that day forward, finally marrying each other in 2015. They enjoyed traveling, spending time with their families and friends and were always there for each other, through every good time and bad time.

Kevin spent years guiding the HOA in his community as treasurer and as president, accomplishing many projects for the entire community.

After undauntedly battling cancer for over 4 years, Kevin passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and friends the evening of April 10th, 2018. He was held in their love throughout his fight and was never alone. His family and friends are happy he is at peace.

Survivors include Partner and Husband Jason Michael Sayers of 19 years of Taylor Mill, Ky. In-laws Michael and Susan Sayers of Alexandria, Ky. Sons James Robert Lawrence and wife Misty (Denman) Lawrence of Edgewood, Ky. Jeremy Aaron Lawrence and wife Tina (McKnight) Lawrence of Florence Ky. Sisters Carolyn Suhr and husband Richard Suhr of Norwalk, Oh. Ellen Yelton and husband David Yelton of Springdale, Oh. Brother Jeffery Lawrence and wife Judy Lawrence of Fairfield, Oh. Seven Grandchildren: Mason, Owen, Kylee, Makayla, Layton Lawrence, Skyler Petty, and Natasha McKnight along with several nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 17th, at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church, 2735 Ashland Avenue, Latonia, Ky from 10:00-12:00 with services immediately following. Interment at Saint Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. The celebration of life will continue at Behle Street by Sheli in Ft Mitchell, one of Kevin's favorite places to eat, laugh and celebrate.
