Nancy Hamant Obituary
Cincinnati, OH - Beloved Wife for 61 years to Thomas H. Hamant. Loving Sister-in-Law of William E. (Karla) Hamant. Dear Aunt of Brad (Vicki) Hamant and Cris (Linda) Hamant. Great Aunt of Kacee, Molly, Riley, Libby, and Anna. Predeceased by parents Robert A. & Hilma Russell, brother Robert B. Russell, and aunt Nellie Richardson. Nancy spent 50 years in Education beginning in 1957 at Reading HS, then 43 years at the University of Cincinnati including 21 years as UC's NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. She is a recipient of numerous awards including UC Alumni Association's 2010 William Howard Taft Medal and 2015 induction into the UC Athletics HOF. She is the namesake of UC Athletic Department's Nancy Hamant Academic Center and the annual Nancy Hamant Scholar-Athlete Award. Nancy was the first woman appointed to the Hamilton County Park District Board of Commissioners. She enjoyed her involvement in the Cincinnati Woman's Club and was a devoted member of Fleming Road United Church of Christ. Nancy passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020. Funeral Services held privately for family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nancy R. & Thomas H. Hamant Endowment Fund for College of Education, Criminal Justice & Human Services at the University of Cincinnati, P.O. Box 19970, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45219. Condolences to HodappFuneralHome.com
