Covington - Raymond Francis Schmidt, 94, of Covington, passed away on Sunday, November 18th at Cold Spring Transitional Care Center. He was a proud Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a retired Electronics Engineer & Physicist with AVCO Electronics, Cincinnati. Ray was also a perpetual volunteer caring for the veterans at Fort Thomas and a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster children with ProKids. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Hank and Art Schmidt. Ray is survived by his son, Greg (Rebecca) Schmidt; daughter, Barbara (Mike) Smith; brother, Rev. Leo Schmidt and 6 grandchildren, Benjamin, Abigail & Anna Schmidt, Andrew Kneeburg and Hayden & Reece Smith; and loving nephews and nieces Karen Schmidt, Marianne Schmidt Hurtt, Michael Schmidt, Nancy Grant, Lisa Cavanagh, and Joan Donahue. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 24th at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. The burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Cold Spring.
