Robert Haines Obituary
Robert A. Haines, Sr., of Naples, Florida and Cincinnati, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 21, 2017 after finishing a life well lived. He was born In Toledo, Ohio on May 16, 1918, the eldest son of Frank and Mabel Haines. After graduation from Blanchester, Ohio High School In 1936, he attended and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He earned a B.S. Degree In Business. He was a proud member and Business Manager of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
On September 18, 1942, Bob married his high school and Miami University sweetheart, Dorothy Brown. After graduation, he joined the Navy to serve in WW2. After serving 4 years as an intelligence officer in a unit that helped break the Japanese code, he returned with his new family to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Bob joined the Kroger Company's National Headquarters in Cincinnati as a buyer and Merchandise Manager. In 1956, he started his own business, the JohnsonHaines Company. After buying out his partner, he renamed the company Hassco Food Brokers, Inc. He also founded Robert A. Haines Co., selling private label products and became a partner in the Al Meyer Food Service Co. and Direct Source International, an import company. He served as President of the Cincinnati Food Brokers Assm and Director of Cincinnati Grocery Manufacturing Assn.
Bob was active in Boy Scouts, United Appeal, and Little League baseball. He was an avid golfer and member of Terrace Park Country Club and an early member of Royal Poinciana Golf Club in Naples, Florida. He and Dorothy loved Miami University and became members of the Presidents Club and the Prodesse Society.
Bob was a dedicated family man. His wife of 75 years passed away in May of 2017. He is survived by three proud sons, Thomas (Cindy) Haines of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Robert A. Haines, Jr. of Naples, Florida; Richard (Susan) Haines of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held in Blanchester, Ohio, where he and Dorothy will be buried in the family plot.

Please forgive the informality of this message, but I do not have all of the addresses or contact information. Growing up in Terrace Park and overlapping with the Haines Family, I have many great memories. Frankly, I remember your father like I just saw him yesterday. He was a true gentleman and a very good person--all around. I share the loss that you have. Seriously.
