Thomas W Tombragel
Newport - Thomas (Tom) W. Tombragel, 97, of Newport, KY passed away peacefully on July 14, 2021 at his daughter's home where he resided for the past year and a half. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years Juanita (Stivers) Tombragel, daughter, Deborah Kasson, mother Marie Tombragel, father Joseph Tombragel, brother William Tombragel. Tom is survived by his sons, Daniel (Jackie) Tombragel, Florence KY, Richard Tombragel, Southgate KY, daughters Susan (David Moffat) Brophy, Wilder KY, Teresa (Janet Ebbeskotte) Tombragel, Newport KY, 9 grandchildren, and 13, great-grandchildren. Tom was a graduate of Roger Bacon High School, OH and when his country asked for him to serve in WWII Tom enlisted in the Army and was assigned to the Ordinance Division. Tom served during the siege at Omaha Beach and provided support throughout Europe during the last phases of the war. He received a Silver Star and 5 Bronze Stars for his service. After WWII Tom worked for the United States Postal Service for 33 years where he became a purchasing agent for the Dalton Avenue Processing Center in Cincinnati, OH. A position he dearly loved. Upon his retirement, Tom took up golf and joined a senior league at AJ Jolly Golf Course in Alexandria, KY. Besides golfing, he enjoyed passing the time playing cards with his friends. He was a member of the Newport Elks Lodge #273 and made many friends at the Friday night fish fries and the Thanksgiving gatherings.
Visitation will be 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday, July 19, 2021 at St. Therese Church, Southgate, KY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place immediately at St. Stephen Cemetery Fort Thomas, KY. Memorials are suggested to the Newport Elks Lodge #273 3704 Alexandria Pike Cold Spring, KY 41076 , St. Elizabeth Hospice 483 South Loop Rd.
