Agnes Barrow-Bernard Obituary

Agnes Barrow-Bernard, a loving mother, wife, grandmother took the hand of God and eternal rest on August 11, 2022 at the age of 83, at St. John of Berchman Senior Home. Agnes born Dec. 10, 1938. Agnes was a lifelong resident of New Orleans and Marrero, La. Agnes was the wife of the late George W. W. Bernard, III. She was a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 2241 So. Liberty St., New Orleans, La. under Pastor Brian K. Richburg, Sr. Agnes is the daughter of the late Agnes Jefferson Gordon and Fred Barrow, Sr. Agnes is survived by 9 children Edward Barrow, Deborah Barrow-DeGruy (Kirk), Terri Barrow-Moran (Joseph), Janel Barrow, George W.W. Bernard IV (Sybil), Lamont Bernard of New Orleans, La., Donna Ray Barrow, Ursula Bernard-Matero (Manuel) of Fort Worth, TX, LaToya Bernard-Rials (Wayne) of Menasha, WI, Rosezina Jefferson of Bossier City, La. Sister of Ernest Johnson, Melbourne, Fl., Annette Williams, New Orleans, La. Agnes is survived by 40 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-granddaughters. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Shawn Bernard, 6 grandchildren, Tiffany, Montrell, Kendall, Samyjia, Jayla and Jontrell, 3 siblings Freddie Barrow, Jr., Jacqueline and Anntonette Gordon. A host of younger cousins that was more like nieces, and nephews, cousins, friends, Paulette Stewart her friend/caregiver, Roy Farran, Carol Bank, her family of Abundance Life Senior Care Center, plus all the friends that collected over her 83 years. Relatives and friends of the family and staff: Harris Methodist Hospital, Tulane Hospital, Odyssey House, Volunteers of America, First Line Bus, Walmart, Rick's Car Wash, CVS, Orleans Furniture, International House, Holiday Inn Select, Target, Morial Convention Center, ISB Bank, Southwest Airline and Ochsner Hospital are all invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 am at Majestic Mortuary, 1833 Oretha C. Haley Blvd., NOLA 70113. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Rev. Hanson Broussard, officiating. Interment in Holt Cemetery, 635 City Park Ave., NOLA. Due to COVID-19, everyone attending is required to wear masks and adhere to social distancing. Professional services entrusted to Majestic Mortuary Service, Inc., (504) 523-5872.
