Alfred Donaldson Sr.

Alfred Donaldson Sr. was born on November 13, 1969, to Mary M. Donaldson and the late Alfred Spears. Alfred was a devoted family man, cherished father to Alfred Jr., Avery, and Addison, as well as a beloved bonus father to Hasaiah and Harmonie Davis. He is remembered by his siblings Kim W. Taylor (Melvin), Gillian, Louise, Patrick, Karen, Clarence, the late Robert Donaldson, and Latoya (Pete) Luckett, and as a treasured uncle and Godfather to many. He was previously married to Germaine Edinburgh Donaldson, Ebony W. D. Malveaux, and Evanna H.H. Donaldson. Alfred was a proud graduate of Alfred Lawless Senior High School (c/o 1988), where he was the Salutatorian of his graduating class. He went on to attend Xavier University of Louisiana as part of the Engineering Dual Degree Program, eventually earning degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Southern University and A&M College of Engineering (Fall 1994). Professionally, Alfred began his career at Martin Marietta Space Systems at the Michoud Facility as an intern at age 17. He was a licensed Professional Engineer in Louisiana, California, and Texas. Over nearly three decades, he continued with the company through its transition to Lockheed Martin, working in New Orleans, Sunnyvale, California, and Dallas-White Settlement. He traveled extensively, building electrical systems for Lockheed affiliates, and spent the last two years with Synergy Space Systems – S3. Before Hurricane Katrina changed the landscape of schools, Alfred's commitment to philanthropy was exhibited through his many years of providing computers to schools and community organizations throughout the city of New Orleans. Alfred is preceded in death by his father, his brother Robert, and a beloved nephew Torree, joining them now in eternal rest. Alfred's legacy of love, dedication, and friendship will forever be cherished by his family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Friday, October 4, 2024, for 10:00 a.m. at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 8282 I-10 Service Road, New Orleans, LA 70126.
