Alfred L. Searls Jr.

Alfred L. Searls, Jr., age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023, surrounded by his loved one. He was a native of Jamaica Queens, NY and a resident of Harvey, LA. Alfred received his formal education from both New York and New Orleans Public School Systems. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, from which he received an honorable discharge. He was a popular DJ, who was known for the expression "Top of the Line". Alfred will be remembered by all for his pleasant and friendly personality. Beloved husband of the late Carolyn F. Forest Searls by first and the late Jerry Dean Searls by second marriage. Loving father of Alfred IV and Gary Searls, and the late Darlene S. Sims. Stepfather of James Rossel. Son of the late Alfred L. Searls, Sr. and Felice Jackson. Brother of Gregory Searls, Michael (Patricia) Jackson, Reginald Jackson, Eugene Jackson, Maria (Edward) Gartrell, Lillian S. Baker, and the late Ronald, Larry, and Gary Searls, Willie, and Thomas Jackson. Nephew of Joyce Jackson and Charles Manchester both of Baton Rouge, LA. Alfred is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until service time at the parlor.
