A special thanks to Holly Court Assisted Living and Memory Care and The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge for their outstanding care of Mrs. Ashton during her last few months. Born in Palmetto, Florida and spent her summers fishing and boating at the beach on Anna Maria Island where her adventurous spirit thrived. She even wanted to conquer the skies and took flying lessons in high school. Post-World War II she attended the University of Alabama where she met her loving husband, Jack, who had served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines. Anne's life was dedicated to education, whether it was her own personal growth or instilling that quest for knowledge in others. She was a dedicated and much-loved teacher beginning as a den mother for the Cub Scouts and then as an elementary and preschool teacher for many years in Jeanerette, La. and Metairie, La. Her spiritual growth was also an integral part of her life. She completed a 4-year course of study for Education for Ministry through the School of Theology at the University of the South. During her retirement years, she ministered to patients in nursing homes through Christ Episcopal Church of Slidell, La. Anne's greatest joy was celebrating life's milestones with her friends and family "down on Bayou Bonfouca." Her spirit touched many lives, but she will always be remembered for her witty sense of humor, her devotion to her husband Jack, and her unconditional love for her family. Arrangements are with Church Funeral Services & Crematory.
