Arthur Hipple Obituary

Arthur B. Hipple June 19, 1922 - June 10, 2006 Arthur B. Hipple 83, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at the Atrium at Penn State. Born June 19, 1922, in Pine Glenn, he was the son of the late Charles F. Hipple and Inez Reiter. On July 31, 1948, in Milesburg, he married the late Edith Rison Hipple, who preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 2003. Arthur was a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. He also attended the Dubois campus of Penn State University. He later studied meteorology at UCLA in Los Angeles. He worked as the owner and operator of Hipple and Son Farm Equipment. He is survived by two daughters, Christine Hipple and her husband, Larry Pencak, of Columbia, Md., and Cynthia Eckenrode and her husband, Thomas, of Westminster, Md.; by one son, David A. Hipple and his wife, Lisa, of Bellefonte; two brothers, Clifton H. Hipple of Cambridge Springs, Md., and William Hipple of Southern Pines, N.C;. and four grandchildren, Erica and Ashley Pencak of Columbia, Md., and Joanna and Andrew Eckenrode of Westminster, Md. Arthur was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. Arthur was a captain who served in the United States Air Force during World War II. For his service, he received the Asiatic Pacific Metal with Battle Stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one star. He was a founding member of the Sterling Run Club of Pine Glenn, a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #1094, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1600 of Bellefonte, a member of the Bellefonte American Legion Post #33 of Bellefonte, and the Nittany Country Club in Mingoville. He was also a past member of the Bellefonte Lions Club. He was also an enthusiastic and prolific woodworker. Friends will be received from 10:30a.m. until noon Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the Wetzler Funeral Home, 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barbara Ammann officiating. Burial will follow at the Centre County Memorial Park in College Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 209 E. Beaver St., State College, PA 16801.

Dave and the Hipple family....

Although I haven't seen your Dad in a few years, I can remember back seeing him on the golf course at Nittany and how popular he was. I know he did a lot for that club and was very well liked by all.

I am very sorry to hear of his passing and hope you can remember all the great memories and get through this difficult time.
