I wish I would be in Houston to celebrate the memories of my dear friend Barbara with her children and friends. I moved to NYC in 2013 from Houston. I wish I would have knowing a little sooner maybe I could it come to Houston. I had tremendous amount of memories of Barbara and the times we used to go to New Orleans to visit her friends. The many times we went to Galveston together. Ans we where planning to go to Mexico together which unfortunately was cut by the accident in her home where she lost her life. I missed her dearly she was my partner in good and bad times. We where friend since my kids where babies more than 20 years; I love all her children Sabrina, Melita (RIP), Pamela, Daniel, and all her grand children and friends. I have you in my heart Barbara I miss you so much but I will see you again in heavens.

Barbara and I became friends in the late '80s, socializing in Houston and Lexington. She was a remarkable lady.
We shared her love of the arts and her Bellefleur Farm in Versailles, Kentucky.
I knew Danny from about 1970 and met his son, Daniel in 1989. My sympathies and thoughts are with Barbara's family and friends in this tragic loss.

I knew Barbara ever since I moved with my husband from Mexico to Houston, she sow my children growing and living for College, I spent a lot of time on and off with her and even went on trips to New Orleans. She loved her children and grandchildren. She always was telling me what was going on in Sabrinas's life and the new pictures of her twins and Dani's always coming to get her out to lunch. I will missed her so much and still don't believe she is gone.

My deepest condolences to Barbara's family.
I've known Barbara since we were in college together. She had a positive view of life, handled whatever problems came her way with grace and dignity. She loved her children and her grandchildren, spoke of them often and was particularly grateful to her daughter Sabrina and her son Daniel for all they have done for her in her time of need. She and I shared so much over all these many years. We knew everything about each other, and I feel confident in saying the world will not be as beautiful without her. Wherever she went, she made her surroundings magnificent. She was magnificent. I will miss her terribly.

...Due to Barbara's impeccable sense of style - I was the beneficiary of life in two homes she decorated...
Harambee House in Houston and Xalapa Farm in Kentucky.
...Soon after she turned to me in 1999 for contact information for the surgeon who attended my son when he died from cancer, I sadly learned that her daughter, Melita, died from inoperable cancer.
...Barbara and I had a memorable lunch in Houston before I left and shared time at the diPortanovas with Nastasha Rawson and her Bible-studies.

Barbara was an inspiration, a true icon of intelligence, art, and sophistication. She had a razor-wit and didn't suffer fools lightly, but she was blessed with a fantastic sense of humor, an amazing education, and a wealth of fantastic and amazing experiences to talk about. Seeing her anywhere was always an experience, and having a conversation with her was always unforgettable. When you think of the great women of the 20th Century, she's just got to be there. A truly stunning and formidable individual, she will be missed. My sympathies and condolences to the Dror and Franzheim families.
