Beverly Jacobs Obituary

Beverly Nolan Jacobs, a native of Metairie, Louisiana, died on November 17, 2015 after a long, recurrent battle with metastatic cancer. Mrs. Jacobs lived throughout the world and the United States before returning to live in her childhood home in Metairie in 1971. Mrs. Jacobs earned nursing and education degrees from Arizona State University and Louisiana State University, and served as a nurse in the United States Air Force at home and abroad. A retired nurse educator, she is predeceased by her husband, David Jacobs (Major, USAF Retired), and parents, Clare Meta Flanagan Nolan and John Joseph Nolan. Mrs. Jacobs is survived by and will be missed by her family and friends – daughters: Linda Jacobs-Condit (Bruce) of Alexandria, Virginia and Lynn Jacobs of Metairie, Louisiana; grandchildren Lindsay Condit Marshall (Neil) of Glasgow, Scotland, Stephanie Condit of Metairie, Louisiana, Douglas Hernandez of Metairie, Louisiana, and Kevin Jacobs (Francyne) of Houston, Texas; and great-grandchildren Halle, David and Aaron Jacobs of Houston, Texas. On behalf of Louisiana Women Veterans, we would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family of Ms. Beverly Nolan Jacobs, U.S. Air Force veteran. Here is a poem that we honor our ladies of military with:

She is a woman veteran
Whose service was true
She proudly served
The Red, White and Blue

She gave a part of her life
So others could be free
And without any hesitation
She joined unselfishly

She did her job well
With Honor and Pride
And served her great country
With the men alongside

We're proud today to know
That although she is gone
She goes on to glory
After a job "well done!"

And so, "Our Dear Sister"
We salute you today
A special Airman laid to rest
In this quiet, solemn way.

Presented in memory of
Beverly Nolan Jacobs
US Air Force

Patriotic and Loyal to the red, white, and blue
Courageously and unselfishly they served
To keep this land of ours free
She is A Veteran

A life, family, and friends sacrificed
A volunteer always, never drafted
Serving in distant lands or on the home front
She is A Veteran

In foxholes, under the cover of fire, or in peace
Sometimes forgotten or overlooked
Sometimes resented, segregated, and bullied
She is A Veteran

Quietly serving sometimes their only honor
Proud, Gracious, and Compassionate
Some gave all, some were captured
She is A Veteran

No more, no less, they served the same
A final salute rendered on this hallowed day
To a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a wife, a mother
To A Veteran
