Billy Ray Talbert

1942 - 2024

Billy Ray Talbert, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on May 7, 2024, at the age of 81 years. He was a native of Winnsboro, Louisiana, born on June 21, 1942. Billy was preceded in death by his loving parents, the late Charles Talbert and Mammie Talbert, and one brother, Albert Rupent "Ralph" Roser. Billy leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his wife of 16 years, Mary Beth Talbert; two stepdaughters, Dana Marie Powell (Ken Kirby) and Christine Sims (Cody); his step-grandchildren, Victoria Powell, Hayden Powell, Aubrei Powell, Emalynn Kirby, Emma Sims, Kai Sims, and Camden Sims; nephew, Bill "Andre" Talbert (Betty); and a host of extended family members and friends whom he loved greatly. Billy graduated from Ferriday High School in 1962, where he proudly cheered his team on as a cheerleader, a testament to his spirited and supportive nature. Following his high school academic pursuits, Billy honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as military security, receiving an honorable discharge for his dedicated service. Billy furthered his education at Northeastern in Monroe, LA for two years. His career path then led him to Eastern Airlines, where he worked diligently for 23 years, demonstrating his steadfast work ethic and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Billy had a deep appreciation for the arts and music, which he enjoyed exploring in his leisure time; however, he treasured nothing more than time spent with family and friends. Billy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church located at 1534 7th St., Slidell, Louisiana 70458.
