Bobby was one of my earliest supervisors when I joined Shell´s New Orleans Construction Design Group in 1966. He was a patient teacher and mentor to me as well as many other greenhorn platform designers. He and Audrey also became very good friends whom Martha and I enjoyed outside the workplace. RIP Bobby.

In this picture Bobby is (very appropriately) holding the Plaque Awarded to Shell recognizing the Cognac Platform as The Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement of 1978 from the American Society of Civil Engineers (actually given in 1980) . His innovative mind and somewhat unconventional thinking contributed significantly to that success.

I was a young engineer at Shell that benefitted from the knowledge, kindness, and good spirit that Bobby showered upon us freely. He was always available and willing to share his deep experience, listen to our issues, and highlight any value in the thoughts we had. He was the hub of our civil engineering community, bridging in all directions. I have nothing but the best thoughts for this man and the deepest gratitude for his selfless giving. Rest In Peace.

My condolences to the family. I worked under Bobby for the first 3 years of my career at Shell, and he was one of the greats in the industry. He knew his profession inside and out, but also knew how to teach and guide those green-behind-the-ears new engineers entrusted to him for development. What a wonderful individual.

I worked with and for Bobby at times during Shell Oil's significant developments in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. He was an excellent Civil Engineer in his own right, and a world class mentor of others --new hires and longer term employees.
It was very common to see Engineers in his office discussing new concepts to solve old and new problems. We would kid him that he needed a "take a number" system outside his door to control traffic!
He also had an amazing ability to "see" in 3D, and was a great help to Draftsmen and Engineers alike in avoiding structural and facilities infringements among structural members and piping and equipment .
He had a happy, open and positive demeanor which made for a comfortable and positive work environment.
A good, decent , thoughtful and kind man.
God Bless.
