To the Cooper Family:
When I think of Brenda's homegoing, I think of one of my favorite songs:
"If you miss me from singing down
here, Come on up to bright glory.
I"ll be singing up there."
Surely, Brenda has gone up to bright glory, directing/singing up there in that heavenly choir. Her joy and her work will continue forever.
She will be missed.
With love, sympathy and prayers.

My heart has expanded with the love written here. I did not know Sister Cooper during her earthly existence but I feel her love and faith in her homegoing. Truly the Lord works in mysterious ways...as I was drawn from my home in Tucson to reading this Times-Picayune obit in New Orleans. Since the day I read it last week Sister Cooper and her family and friends have created a large space to reside in my heart and prayers. You and your dearly beloved Sister thrive in the heart of a stranger. I pray for your peace and the ability for those of us here to continue to spread her love and joy through the gifts which we've been given. Lord have mercy, I can hear an angel singing. Thank you Sister Cooper and may God prosper you.

To the Cooper Family, Brenda was truly a inspiration to all that knew her. Through her words of encouragment and in song. I grew up with her songs she sung with the Voices (Hold Back The Night,His Eyes Is On The Sparrow(no one sang it like her),Pray For Me) and so many more..Many of which I mimic after her..She was always there whenever I needed her to appear on Program for my brother's-(Rev. Wilfred Green)Anniversaries, she also sang at his funeral,as well as my mom(Irma Green),and grandmother(Ro-Ro). I do believe that Ruby is trying to reorganize her Triumphs. I'll forever keep her in my heart. May the memories of her and knowing how many lives she touch be a comfort to you. She'll trully be missed.

Pastor Cooper, I am praying for your strength. Our familes have been together for as long as I can remember. I met Brenda at the age of 12 in the Voices of Triumph Choir under the direction of the late Ruby Summers - Porter. She and my cousin Debra were dear friends, which now they share another similiarity, they left for heaven on the same month and date, they were also neighbors at one time. I learned to sing "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" listening to Brenda sing that one song, from that moment I knew I wanted to learn and sing it, and I did and still do. Brenda was a sweet spirit with a bright beautiful smile. New Orleans has lost a great singer and director. However, to live is Christ, to Die is Gain. Heaven has truly Gained an Angel. My deepest heartfelt condolences to the Rev Warren and Nancy Cooper and Family. God is strengthening you to witness that He is our peace in the midst of the storm; He is our joy when all hope seem gone; and He is our all and all when times are hard.
I rejoice just to have had the opportunity to have known, worked and became acquainted with Brenda and family for many, many a years. Therefore, rejoice, rejoice, and rejoice for God is on your side. Brenda's life though cut short yet the victory is still yet hers. Brenda no longer has to speak in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in her heart to the Lord. She is sitting at Jesus feet enjoying the reward that has been promised to us all.
Father, I ask that You hide the Cooper Family in your secret pavilion during this time of lost. Father, I pray the Lord God will be with them and allow them to rejoice over you with joy knowing that only in Your presence is the fullness of joy and no good thing He will hold from them that walk uprightly. My friend is now God's angel shining ever so brightly. God bless

I was absolutely shocked to read online about the passing of Brenda L. Cooper.
When I lived in New Orleans, I knew Brenda for a very long time. She also was a co-worker of mine at U.S. Coast Guard (at the Hale Boggs Fed. Bldg.) and Defense Contract Management Agency at Michoud (located at Lockheed Martin). She and I worked directly in both places in the same offices. She was very kind hearted and caring person with her beautiful smile.
May THE MOST HIGH bless her soul and complete all his wishes.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family regarding this great grief.
I know Brenda will be highly missed to the people who knew her because she is well known in the City of New Orleans and had many friends that truly liked her.

My sincere condolences to the Cooper Family. I grew up seeing Sis. Cooper direct & sing. As I grew older & closer to her I knew that God placed her in my life for a reason. She was my inspiration, well as well as God to stay in Church and continue to use my instrument (my voice) to give God the Praise. She was always encouraging me to do what God says to do. I can still hear her in my ear saying "sing well child, keep on keeping on, my strong Alto." and Oh the memories, One comes to mind of 1st District Revival, she would always give a speech to me & my cousin Ashton (RIP) to be on time for God because he is always on time for us. (smiles) 2nd memory is the many stories I heard of her singing with The Voices of Triumph with my grandmother Irma J. Green (RIP), how strong her Alto voice was. Last time I heard this sweet angel sing was for my Uncle's funeral The Late Pastor Wilfred L. Green (RIP) sing a song I believe was called " I dreamed of a City called Glory", well Sis. With heartfelt sympathy and Prayers, I and my family offer our condolences. As I look back on the years of guidance and direction from Sis. Cooper in my choir days at St. Andrew there was one thing she always stated that will stay with me for my lifetime...... " If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain." Her life certainly reflected those words and I am sure many others feel the same way I do. She will be greatly missed on this earth, but surely heaven is rejoicing. May God Bless you all, the St. Andrew Family included.

To Pastor & Sis. Cooper, Kevin and Kayla, and the entire Cooper/Watson Family:
The St. Andrew B. C. extends to all of you our deepest sympathy in the loss of Brenda. We are praying with you and for you that God will grant you His perfect peace and understanding during this difficult time.
Brenda has been a part of the St. Andrew B.C. Family for as long as you have been our Pastor. She may not have been an "official" member, but she was a part of our family. As well as at Branch Bell, she was with us every Sunday morning; when we had Sunday evening service - she was there; on Thursday night she was at Bible Study; and any other time our doors were opened Brenda Cooper was there. She loved the Lord and willingly gave of her service. She loved and supported her brother and that love and support was passed on to St. Andrew. She was not just our Choir Director but she was truly a part of the St. Andrew Family, and we already miss her.
We grieve with you in your loss, for we have also lost our Sister in Christ. But, we rejoice along with you, too, for we know that Brenda was a Child of The King and her soul is safe in the arms of Jesus. She always let her light shine, and was ever an encouragement to young people to use the gifts that God had given them, as she gave freely of the gifts that he had bestowed upon her.
Brenda was a soldier who stayed on the battlefield for the Lord. She promised him that she would serve him til she died....and that is exactly what she did. Never wavering or complaining, even though at times her joints were wracked with pain. She looked to the hills from whence cometh her the strength, and went on. We thank God that He let her pass this way. We are richer for it.
Remember that we love you Pastor, and we are here for you. We continue to lift you up in prayer. May God Bless and Keep you all.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:4

God looked around His garden and found and empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful; He always takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, "Peace be thine". It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

God desired another busy angel to sit around his throne, so He called Brenda Lorraine Cooper from labor to reward.
“He Abides, In Me Forever; He Abides, In Me Forever, Hallelujah He Abides In Me…” The New Orleans Voices of Triumph, Featuring Miss Brenda L. Cooper!!! Yes this is how I will always remember this Great Women of GOD! I would like to kindheartedly offer my sincerest sympathy to Rev. Dr. Warren V. Cooper, Nancy C. Cooper, Kevin and Kayla and the Cooper Family.
A golden heart stopped beating; a determined spirit is at rest. God broke your hearts to prove to you, He only takes the very best!
Difficulties arise in the lives of us all. What is most important is dealing with the hard times, coping with the changes, and getting through to the other side where the storm, where the sun is still shining just for you.
It takes a strong person to deal with tough times and difficult choices. Nevertheless, you are a strong people. It takes courage. But you possess the inner courage to see you through. It takes being an active participant in your life. But you are in the driver’s seat, and you can determine the direction you want tomorrow to go in.
Hang in there…and take care to see that you do not lose sight of the one thing that is constant, beautiful, and true: “Brenda Lorraine Cooper”. Everything will be fine—and it will turn out that way because of the special kind of person Brenda Lorraine Cooper was.
So…beginning today and lasting a lifetime through ~ hang in there, and do not be afraid to feel like the morning sun is shining…Just for you…
Yours in the Struggle
