Calvin Eugene Smooth, 63, of Slidell, LA, was welcomed into the Kingdom of God on Wed., Sep. 28, 2022, in Slidell with family at his side. He was born on May 31, 1959, in Covington, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe Smooth, Sr., and Marie Louise Williams Smooth; and sister, Dianne Marie Smooth Washington. Calvin is survived by his devoted wife, Lorey LeFrere Smooth; daughter, Elisha Smooth; stepdaughter, Sable LeFrere; grandson, Kaiden Smooth; and godchild, Albert Troy Smith; his siblings, Monroe Smooth, Jr. (Sandra) of Hampton, VA; Lionel Smooth (Betty); Annette Smooth; aunts, Joyce Square and Alberta A. Smith (Louis Joe); mother-in-law, Gloria LeFrere; brother-in-law, Preston LeFrere; sisters-in-law, Ursula Leon (Clay); Madeleine Laurent (Jimmy); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at 11 am at Starlight M.B. Church, 2100 2nd St., Slidell, with Dr. Shovie Ducre officiating. Visitation will be from 9 am to 11 am. Interment in Slidell Memorial Cemetery, 1413 Daney St., Slidell. Freddie Doyle Funeral Home, 2430 4th St., Slidell, is entrusted with arrangements.
