Carolyn Nabos Bourgeois Alfortish

1946 - 2021

Carolyn Nabos Bourgeois Alfortish passed away on February 19, 2021 in her home. She was born in New Orleans on October 4, 1946 to Dr. John F. Nabos and Eva R. Nabos. She attended Mt. Carmel Academy and treasured the education that she received by The Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She graduated from The University of Louisiana Lafayette with a degree in education. While there, Carolyn met her husband, Michael Bourgeois and they started a family soon after graduation. She resided in Metairie and taught in the Jefferson Parish Public School System for 30 years. She treasured her students and dedicated her every effort to their education. During that time, in order to further her education and expertise, she received a master's degree from The University of New Orleans. Throughout her life she tirelessly supported her two children, Dr. Brian Bourgeois and Karen Bourgeois. She cheered their successes and was always there to give support and guidance. She was an excellent mother. She was also loving grandmother to her three grandchildren. Later in life she was remarried to Thomas Alfortish. She is survived by her children, her grandchildren, Elise Bourgeois, John-Michael Bourgeois, and Katelyn Fitzgerald. She is also survived by her brother, John Nabos, and her sister, Jeanne Labat. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Greenwood Funeral Home chapel, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
