Cecil Washington Obituary

Cecil Washington departed this life on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Ochsner Hospital. He was born on November 30, 1955 to the union of Carrol Washington and Naomi Lucas Washington. He was a graduate of Abramson Senior High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after graduation. In 1975 he married his best friend and love of his life Linda Fay Camper. From their marriage was born two beautiful children, Casandasa Washington and Cory Washington. Cecil was a military veteran who served in the Vietnam conflict and Desert Shield/Desert Storm. His last assignment was with the Air Force Defense Courier Service at the Pentagon. He served his country proudly and with honor. After retiring from the military, he worked at LSU Health Sciences Center in the office of Campus Police. He retired from LSU and the State of Louisiana with 10 years of service. Still not being able to keep still he went on to work in the security office at the New Orleans Riverwalk, leaving only due to his failing health. Cecil leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife on 46 years Linda Fay Washington, daughter Casandasa Washington, and son Cory Washington Sr. (Latisha), his grandsons, Damien Washington and Cory Washington Jr, his granddaughters, Naima Washington and Ariana Lyles, his brothers Kenneth, Cornelius, Chad (Carmencita), and Floyd Washington, his sister Carol Washington-Veal (Kevin), his aunts Sara, Mary, and Margaret. His brothers-in-law Charles (Letrice), James, Isaac, Michael, Stevie (Lisa), and Harold, his sister-in-law Vivian (Newton) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and last but not least his military family. He was preceded in death by his dear mother Naomi Washington, stepmothers Frederica Washington and Carrie Jean Washington, grandmothers Ledonia Lucas and Mary Sims Washington, grandfathers Robert Lucas Sr., LB Washington Sr., mother-in-law Gussie Mae Camper, sister-in-law Grace Camper, aunts Cleopha, Birdie, Johnnie, Tina, Mildred and uncles Robert Jr, Elliott, Charlie Sr., Abraham Sr., LB Jr., and Booker T. A full military honor ceremony and celebration of Cecil's life will be held in the chapel of Rhodes Funeral Home at 3933 Washington Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70125 on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 10:00am. Visitation begins at 9:00am. Interment will be at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Graham College Road, Slidell, Louisiana. Due to Covid-19, masks are required. Arrangements by D. W.
