Celeste Drezins Obituary

Celeste Marie Drezins passed away surrounded by her loved ones on March 1, 2023, after a brief but brave battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of southern Louisiana, she loved the Saints, LSU, Mardi Gras, and crawfish season. But Celeste's heart really belonged to her family and friends, whom she made happy every day through acts of service and giving (often unexpected) gifts. She had recently married the love of her life, Dmitri Drezins, and gave birth to a young son, Dmitri Junior. Celeste also leaves behind her mother Dr. Gayle Baer, siblings Seth, Aaron, and Sonya, and brother-in-law Nic. She is predeceased by her father, Dr. David Harsha. They will all miss her desperately but her spirit and love will forever be part of the strong bond they share. Celeste also channeled her passion and gifts outside of the home as an elementary school teacher at Arlene Meraux Elementary in Chalmette, and as an active member of the Congregation Gates of Prayer synagogue in Metairie. Her students, colleagues, and congregants will remember Celeste for her sense of humor, charitable nature, and no-nonsense attitude. Celeste's presence and energy made an impression on everyone she touched. In lieu of flowers, Celeste's family asks that donations in her memory be made to the National Institute of Health and Arlene Meraux Elementary.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Celeste. I know you were so in love and happy and we´re so excited about having a baby. My heart hurts for youyour husband, baby, and all of your family.
I met Celeste while teaching a summer program almost 5 years ago for Jefferson Parish Public Schools. We worked that summer at Adams Middue School. Immediately I found out she was teaching at the school I was going to work at that August! She was so nice, friendly, and helpful. She was a sweet friend. I met her family that she had been telling me about, when I went to her parents´ house after her father passed away. Like Celeste, her family was so nice and welcoming.
She loved all of you.
Again, I´m praying for all of you.

Condolences to the family
Celeste was a beautiful and caring person. I first met Celeste when I was helping my daughter set up her classroom for her first year as a teacher. Celeste walked into the classroom several times with boxes of supplies for her. I knew that moment Celeste was a beautiful person! Celeste and Jessica would become best friends. I loved getting to know and visiting with Celeste, watching her find the love of her life, getting married and bringing a precious son into this world. You will be missed!
