My father was such an incredible man with a tremendous heart and passion for life. He taught me how to laugh during the hard times, to never give up, to always have faith, to be kind, to be silly, and he taught me how to love unconditionally. I love him with all my heart and I will miss him every day of my life. His passing was too soon and this has been the most difficult thing I and my family have ever endured, but it is a comfort to know he is at peace and with God and the angels.
I love you and miss you, Papi.

The Broken Chain
We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to loose you,
You do not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we can not see you, You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

En Memoria de
Cesar Dario Castle
No sabemos esa mañana que
Dios iba a llamar tu nombre.
En la vida te quisimos mucho.
En la muerte hacemos igual.
Nuestros corazónes se
Rompieron al perderte.
No te fuiste sólo
Porque una parte de
nosotros se fue contigo
el día que Dios te llamó al cielo.
Nos dejaste con recuerdos de paz.
Tu amor es todavía nuestro guía,
y aunque no te podemos ver,
siempre estás a nuestr o lado.
Nuestra cadena famíliar
está quebrada,
ya nada se parece lo mismo,
pero Dios nos llama uno por uno,
y nuestra cadena se ligará otra vez.

June 15,2013...A month has gone by and I feel like it has many years. How do I describe everything you mean to me? How do I describe the void and emptiness that grows every day more and more? How do I describe the endless nights that go by without out you by my side? How do I describe everything I feel? I can't...I hurt so much I just can't!!!
There was never a doubt in my heart that our love for each other was genuine. We truely had a love that was one of a kind. You left me three wonderful children that remind me of you every day. I see in them so much of you. Vida mia, I miss you so much it hurts every second of the day.
What I have left are all the amazing memories we shared together. I carry at all times the advice and love you shared with me. I have your heart...I will always carry your heart with me that is made of gold. I pray you see beautiful colors and feel no pain, I pray that your soul rest in peace, I pray we will be united together when God decides to take me in his arms.
You were the most incredible husband, father, friend, brother and loving person in the world.
I will always love, miss and cherish you.

PSALM 23
(All Hands)
The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.
He has me lie down in grassy pastures,
he leads me by quiet water,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in right paths
for the sake of His own name.
Even if I pass through death-dark valleys,
I will fear no disaster; for you are with me;
your rod and staff reassure me.
You prepare a table for me,
even as my enemies watch;
you anoint my head with oil
from an overflowing cup.
Goodness and grace will pursue me
every day of my life;
and I will live in the house of the Lord
for ever.
BENEDICTION
May God bless you and keep you,
May the Lord show you kindess and grace
May the Eternal One bestow favor upon you and
grant you peace.
May it be so

Apart from being a wonderful friend, Cesar was also an outgoing, dedicated,
and optimistic Auxiliarist. He was a dedicated learner and wanted to
participate fully in the Coast Guard Auxiliary by becoming operational and
having a broad knowledge base throughout Auxiliary training.
Cesar become an accomplished certified Interpreter while volunteering
countless hours to the safe boating cause, spreading fellowship to other
Flotilla members, and informing prospective members about the joys of being
in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Throughout his two years in the Auxiliary, he became qualified as a
Telecomunications Operator and was well engrossed in taking classes to
become AUXOP Qualified. He had held the position of Flotilla Staff Officer
of Publications, in which he informed the Flotilla members of all flotilla
events.
Even though his time in the Auxiliary was short, he accomplished,
participated, and touched more individuals that some have in an entire
lifetime of service.
We have lost a friend and fellow Auxiliarist from the Eighth District
Coastal Region. Flotilla 45.
The tides of life have ebbed for our shipmate and we fellow members
of the Coast Guard Auxiliary gather here to honor his memory.
Now the Supreme Admiral of the Universe has called our shipmate,
Cesar, to sail with Him in eternally calm waters, free from the storms
and tempests of mortal life.
We honor and cherish the memory of our shipmate, but we do not
mourn for him, for he has found shelter in the great harbor of eternal
peace. Rather, it is for ourselves that we mourn.
For good friend slipped his moorings in the night and is no longer with
us. We will miss his hands on the helm.
We will miss his shoulders next to ours. We will miss his
encouragement and counsel as we meet the storm and strife of life.
We of the Coast Guard Auxiliary mourn our loss, but we are consoled
by the abiding faith that when the final watch changes for us and we
also cross the bar, our shipmate will be waiting to take us in to safe
anchorage.

“When our sailing nears its ending,
When our course is all but run,
When the scenes of past endeavor,
Crowd upon us one by one,
When we see in true perspective,
Knowing wrong and knowing right,
May we say, like Saul of Tarsus,
‘I have fought the noble fight',
May we find our life long courses,
Have not been steered in vain,
Lest the bearings we have plotted,
Must be reckoned out again,
When we leave our earthly bodies,
Buried deep in sea or sod,
May our endeavors be our glory,
When we go to meet our God.”
We bid you “Hail and Farewell”, Cesar, until
we drop anchor beside you at the last Great
Rendezvous.

What can be said about a person that before I met, I had only heard about, but had already gained my respect?
Initially I only heard about a man that ran a Dance Troop and also a Hispanic Newspaper…. What can you do but have respect him
As we started to interact, on a more regular basis, I could not help but notice Cesar's' Determination to not let his newly acquired blindness get the best of him. He was an amazing person with strong convictions, and determination to overcome his shortfalls, by letting his creative side explore new territory he had never done before. He was truly Amazing.
I saw a man Oil Painting, Charcoal Sketching, doing Leather Art, working clay sculptures, the list goes on. Wow what an amazing man… I do not know where he found the time…….. and then to also be part of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, part taking in CASA, embarking on an On-Line radio Station, Shipping supplies for the needy in Latin America, the list is endless; Cesar had a heart bigger than life itself, always looking for ways to give, to reach out, just being Generous and sharing his passion for life was what filled his Heart.
One daytime at the farm, my girls wondered in to the woods a little longer than expected, Cesar suggested going in to the woods too, looking for them… I thought he was kidding, but before I knew it, I was helping him over a fence stomping thru the fallen trees, dodging mud pockets…. what an incredible attitude of courage and defiance to his blindness (not to mention the trust he had in me to take him thru the obstacle course) . Cesar was an inspiration that merited nothing less that admiration
I was not as lucky as the many that knew Cesar prior to his blindness, but feel privileged to have shared a segment of his Cesar's life when he needed a true and sincere friend to whom he could voice his mind and aspirations. Though I had not met him during his full Glory nor his younger days, Life is a wild journey, and the world is really such a small place, that although both Cesar and I have traveled the world in our own right, and knowing each other for a couple of years now, it was not until a few short months ago we realized that we had grown up in the same close knit community, and developed a special bond.
God works in mysterious ways and for some reason made our paths cross
Needless to say, we spent a lot of time over the last weeks and months prior to his passing, engaging in childhood memories of the places in common we used to frequent, the school and church we attended, the park we played in, some of the people that we knew, it is almost as if God brought us full circle with our past. We experienced such parallels in our lives, down to the neighborhood we grew up in, being there at the same time and living only a few hundred feet from one another in a private community. This was special for me and makes me happy to know that he got to share his last years with a friend that could have very well been a lifelong friend by circumstance that could relate to his past down to the cherry trees in front of his house.
In short, my experience with Cesar was one of sincerity, I love not only joy and excitement that my daughters Stephanie 17, Sarah 5 and Sophie 4 would get when seeing Cesar, but also the joy and happiness that Cesar would get having them around him, and for him to get the opportunity to sit with each of them and teach them how to use and mix the Oil Colors, or show the techniques of sketching. My girls call him “Tio” Cesar “Uncle” Cesar in English, something that also satisfies me as I almost felt for him the closeness of a brother
So what can you say about C E S A R …….My Friend, Your Friend, a Father, a Brother, a Husband, a Hero, a True Warrior ??
I do not mourn his Passing as much as I Celebrate Cesar's life. His Positive Attitude, his sense of Humor, his Courage, his Passion for life, his Endless Ambition and Vision of all the things that he still wanted to do … He Never Backed Down, He Fought a good Fight.
My Family and I thank God for the Privilege of having shared many Happy moments.
You will be greatly missed and I just wish we had met you earlier in life so we could have done way more together.
Cesar My Friend, We Love You, Rest in Peace

Although I didn't know him that long I felt as though I've known him all of my life. He always made me feel like a family member and his golden heart never ever made me feel like a stranger. I know that he is in a better place and his vision is fully restored, He is also healthy again and watching over the family. He's also getting everything ready in Heaven so that the family members will be able to transition easily and have his loving arms awaiting them to guide the way. What a wonderful man. He will be sorely missed.

It was an honor and a pleasure to have Cesar as one of my shipmates at Flotilla 45, US Coast Guard Auxiliary. We all admired him how involved he wanted to be and despite his impaired vision, how quickly he learned and passed elective tests to become a better Auxiliarist. He is now with the Great Admiral, and watchstanding near Him looking over us and making sure we follow his example. Fair winds and calm seas you will find in the Heavens.

Condolences to my dear friends, the Castles, regarding the passing of this very special man. This is an excerpt from the eulogy I was privileged to deliver this past Saturday, with an added note.
"Like many leaders in history, Cesar was passionate and driven to understand the problems that his countrymen and others in need faced, and to go about figuring out and fighting to address those problems. In the spirit of great leaders like Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Mother Theresa, Cesar - and Cheryl - chose to devote themselves to caring for and helping others, and spent so much of their time, energy and resources to do so, even though they could have made themselves and their family much more comfortable working only to profit themselves.
But, as I'm certain Cheryl will confirm, both would've told you that their efforts did make them wealthy. The return on their investments of love, hard work, resources and whatever else they had to give were great, in their eyes and the eyes of anyone else who understands how such giving is its own reward. The thankful hearts of those helped, to see the eyes of children victimized by hunger, or maimed by injury, suddenly bright with hope and happiness when relief comes; relief that was part of Cesar's and Cheryl's mission in life. As Cesar - and Cheryl - enriched so many with their selfless giving, the Castles were enriched by what they saw that resulted from their actions. ..."
As Cesar gave so much, and helped so many, his passing is felt like a giant bank account withdrawal - of love and support for his family and our world. But the “bigger picture” he would want us to recognize, is that what we, especially his wife and children, feel as a withdrawal or departure away from us is really quite to the contrary. Cesar's life of caring, loving and giving has in fact been rewarded exponentially – far more than any of us can comprehend – as he was welcomed home to the original and greatest source of Love and Caring, with his Savior, in Heaven. And There, it was Cesar's eyes that reignited and grew so bright in the Everlasting Love and Happiness that were his reward for that life he lived.
So, to paraphrase a lovely quote, “Cesar's death was not the extinguishing of the light; it was only putting out the lamp because the dawn had come.”
God Bless.

On behalf of the members of FL 45 and all members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, our thoughts and prayers are with Cesar and all of your family.
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Cheryl and Family, let knowing how loved Cesar is and how much he will be missed bring you comfort. I remember a morning in Waco, Cesar and I having a cup of coffee and talking, about living abroad and him sharing his thoughts on world events. Such a wise man. I so admired the way he handled his sight difficulties. To him losing his sight was no different than a paper cut - or at least that is what he wanted us to believe. When I asked him about his painting and how he did it with limited sight, he, in true Cesar fashion, pointed to his head and said "You only have to see it here and you can do it". What a lesson for everybody. My heart is with y'all and so are my prayers.
