Chelley Mae Thurman

Chelley, age 83, went to her heavenly home on Friday, May 6, 2016. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Hammond, LA. Chelley loved people and was very passionate about working in the public service field as a waitress for many years. She enjoyed sitting outdoors to watch the birds, but most of all she truly loved spending time with her family. Chelley had a beautiful soul, was a wonderful mother, and a great friend. She will be deeply missed, especially by her little butterfly, Beverly. Chelley is survived by her daughters, Beverly Thurman and husband Scott, Diane, and Debbie; sons, Johnny Thurman and Darrel Austin; sister, Rachel Lopez; grandchildren, Austin Crowe and many more; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two fur babies, Elvis and Pricilla. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Donnavan Thurman; parents, Otis and Beatrice Sanders; and numerous brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. Bro.
