Sister Claudia Marie Citizen

Citizen Sister Claudia Marie Citizen (nee Hesta), the eldest child of the late Orelian Citizen, Sr. and Eula Standberry Citizen entered eternal life on March 23, 2016. She was 80 years of age. Sr. Claudia Marie entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family on September 8, 1953, made First Vows March 19, 1956, and Perpetual Vows March 19, 1961. Sister lovingly served in ministry to the people of God in Louisiana and Oklahoma. She was especially skilled in the culinary arts. She ministered in Lafayette at Immaculata Seminary for twelve years, Holy Rosary Institute, where she was second mistress of borders; in New Orleans at Notre Dame Seminary, Lafon Child Development Center, and at the Motherhouse, where she extended her care by being one of the assigned drivers for her sisters as well as working in food services. After Hurricane Katrina, Sister Claudia Marie, was one of the sister to open a new convent in the uptown area: Austin Place. She also served in Okmulgee, Oklahoma in pastoral ministry, where she met a cousin that was previously unknown to her. Due to ill health, Sister Claudia Marie left her residence at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Holy Family to reside at Lafon Nursing Facility in February, 2014. Services will take place March 29, 2016 in the Chapel of the Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Holy Family. Visitation 8:00 a.m., Wake Services 9:00 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. All relatives, friends, and acquaintances are invited to attend. Interment follows at St. Louis #2. MAJESTIC MORTUARY is in charge of all arrangements.
