Clifford Guidry Obituary

GUIDRY Clifford Andrew Guidry on July 1, 2005, at the age of 80 years, of emphysema. Retired Electrical Engineer (civilian employee) of the U.S. Coast Guard. Born in St. James, LA, June 23, 1925, grew up in Hahnville, LA, and a resident of New Orleans, LA for over 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII in the Pacific. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from LSU. He then served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. Later, while working for Boeing at NASA, he contributed to the design of the Saturn booster for the first Apollo Moon Landing mission in 1969. His name is listed on the Apollo/Saturn V Roll of Honor in the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. and in the Smithsonian Institute. From 1975 to 1977, he taught the National Electrical Code at Delgado Community College. He was a former Cub Scout Master at St. Louis King of France School, and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), American Legion Post 288, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Beloved husband of Anna Sell Guidry. Father of Clifford Guidry, Jr. (Susan), Janet Guidry, Laura G. King (Rodney) of League City, TX, Karen G. Comstock (Thomas) of Houston, TX, and John L. Guidry. Grandfather of seven grandchildren, one deceased grandchild, two step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Catherine Mabel G. Distefano and Ambrose Guidry. Half-brother of the late Joseph Webre, Emile Webre, Ernest Webre, Marguerite W. Falcon, Anita W. Norris and Josephine W. Petit. Son of the late Leonce J. Guidry and Anita Gelpi Webre Guidry. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Friday, July 8, 2005 at 10:00AM. Internment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 7, 2005 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM and on Friday, July 8, 2005 at 9:00AM until 10:00AM. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Guidry, I was very sorry to hear about his death. I regret that I was unable to pay my respects in person. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
