Daisy Jackson Obituary

Relatives and Friends of the family are invited to attend The Celebration of Life Service of Daisy B. Jackson, on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 1249 LeBeouf St, New Orleans, LA. Reverend Dudley Watson officiating viewing will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Restlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, Avondale, LA. Murray Henderson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Daisy B. Jackson was born December 13, 1938 in Lena, Mississippi. She was baptized at a young age at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church by the late Rev.L.H. Kieffer. She was educated at L.B. Landry School and employed for many years with the City of New Orleans. Daisy had a glowing personality that would light up a room whenever she entered. She never met a stranger and would always leave a lasting impression upon all. Daisy was an avid Saints fan who would faithfully yell, blow her whistle and coach her team from her couch. "Miss Daisy" also loved getting dressed in her purple, gold and green for going to the NOMTOC Parade, where she would be seen by spectators and participators "second-lining" with her own personalized, beautifully decorated umbrella. Daisy was united in marriage to Herbert Jackson. She was: the mother of Darlene Brown (Willis), Lisa Marie Brown-Jones (Cedric), and Carl Jackson, Sr. (Joan); Grandmother of Maegan Dorsey (Troy), Raionda Addison (Gregory Sr.), Taylor Janae Jones, Morgan Jackson, Carl Jackson Jr. and Jalen Jordan Jones; Great-Grandmother of Jamari Dorsey, Chestiney Dorsey, Makhi Dorsey, Michael Dorsey and Gregory "Mj" Ravy Jr. Daisy is preceded in death by her parents Chestine and Herman Jackson, one sister Clydell Redmond, and one step-sister Charlsie Williams. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
