Darrell Riggins

Darrell Riggins, a National Marine Seaman, passed away peacefully at his home on August 16, 2023, at the age of 64. He was born to Bernice Riggins and the late Nelson Riggins Jr. He was a native of New Orleans, LA, and a lifelong resident of Harvey, LA. He was the devoted father of Angelica (Aaron) Verdun; grandfather of Aaron, Averie, and Avan Verdun; and brother of Nelson Riggins III (Linda) and Aaron Riggins. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father–Nelson Riggins Jr.; grandparents–Nelson Riggins Sr. and Beatrice Riggins, and Henry Benjamin Sr. and Grace Franklin Benjamin; and his sister–Gail Marie Riggins. The family would like to thank all the staff at Heart of Hospice and West Jefferson who comforted Darrell. Relatives; friends of the family; Pastors, Officers, and members of First Free Mission Baptist Church, River of Life Church, and Fischer Community Church, are welcome to attend the funeral service on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at Fischer Community Church, 1737 L.B. Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114. Reverend Nelson Brown will officiate. The Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service. The Interment will follow at Mc Donoghville Cemetery, 520 Hancock Street, Gretna, LA 70053.
