David Richard Obituary

David Richard, Sr., affectionately known to family and friends as "Bob", entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the age of 90 at his home in Livonia, Louisiana. He was born in Red Cross, Louisiana and raised in Melville, Louisiana until he relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana where he spent most of his life. David was born, along with his twin brother Dave, to the late Adam and Ethel Lane Richard, Sr. He was very family oriented and was no stranger to a large family. In fact, he never had to look outside of their home for someone to play with since he had twelve (12) siblings, which is a family with multiple twin births. David leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of 53 years, Victoria Spellman Richard, his children, David Richard Jr., Kiwi Richard (Jacqueline), Pamela Richard Lewis and Karin (Eric Sr.) Davis. 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great, great-grandchildren. 2 siblings, Herman (Maxine) Richard and Helen Cobb. Sisters-in-law, Isabelle "Dottie" Richard, Gloria Richard, Frances Richard, Viola S. Mitchell, Pauline (Ernest) Taylor, Adeline (Ben Sr.) Brooks. Brothers-in-law Edward (Gilder) Spellman Jr., Joseph (Evelyn) Spellman, Gerald (Denise) Spellman, Charlie Spellman and Felton Minor. 3 God Children; Kirk Johnson III, Kerri Spellman and Shiya Spellman. A devoted friend, Donna Faye Walker and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his mother Ethel Lane Richard, father Adam Richard Jr., and his daughter, Barbara (Isiah) Johnson. Also, by his siblings (sisters) Carrie Minor, Dorothy Thomas (Joe Roberts), Evelyn (Joe) Williams, Elsie Williams (Willie), Irma Lee Conway (Willie), and (brothers) Dave (Gladys), Wilbert, Clarence, Adam Jr, and Lionel Richard. mother/father-in-law, Edward and Victoria Spellman Sr., sister/brothers-in-law, Christine Collins (Calvin Sr.), Marie Mathieu (Lorenzo Sr.) and a double nephew, Soren Spellman, 3 great-grandchildren and other family members who were near and dear to his heart. Relatives and friends, also priest and parishioners of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1404 Erato Street, beginning 12:30 pm. Church visitation 11:30 am until time of Mass. Entombment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Professional service entrusted to Littlejohn Funeral Home, Cal K. Johnson, Manager/Funeral Director.
