Dear Ricky, Jennifer and Jessica,
We just became aware of Dawn's passing. We know what a determined person Dawn was and the courage she showed us all during our short time together. Our prayers join yours in remembering what true faith and hope means to all of us as we walk through our life's journey. We ask God to be with you as recall the happy and sad days. We ask for God's grace for understanding even when we would have wished for a different outcome to His plan.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in your time of need. We will cherish all the wonderful memories we had together. We are here for you if you need anything. We love you, Jenna, Alvin & Savannah

Today was a testament to the infectious love of life Dawn brought to everyone she met. The love everyone felt for Dawn was so very apparent today at her services. I had been friends with Dawn since 2nd grade. We lost touch for a while then met up again when her girls, Jess and Jenn, and my son, Devon were in school together at VOL. It was like no time was lost. Dawn was an amazing woman with incredible strength and courage. I know she's looking down upon us all and smiling as usual! She will truly be missed.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dawn fought her battle with cancer with courage and dignity. No matter what she was going through she always had a smile on her face and a determination that made you feel like she would win this battle. I only knew Dawn from the courthouse. We often would meet up walking in and out of work and just from those short encounters her sweetness, liveliness, and thoughtfulness was apparent. On the outside she was so attractive with her fancy suits and matching shoes, but on the inside she was just as beautiful.

You would have never known by looking at her what a fight she was going through these past few years. Every time I saw her she always had a smile on her face and only positive things to say. She seemed determined to win this fight.

I hadn't seen her in a while and was very saddened to hear about her passing. I know she will be missed by all who knew her.

Ricky, Jennifer & Jessica,
Words cannot even begin to say how sorry I am for your loss. Dawn was such an amazing woman and I know that God took her because He needed her help to help and watch over all of us. After my own loss, I have begun to realize that wanting someone to stay here on earth with us is just a selfish act on our part. She is where we all want to be. We will all meet up with Dawn again some day and it will be just as joyful an occasion as it was for Dawn when she joined in on the Celebration in Heaven of Jesus' Birthday. Until that joyous day, My prayers and thoughts are with all of you. And may your wonderful memories sustain you all until that day.

I remember becoming friends with Dawn in the 2nd grade. She was always so full of energy and smiling. Even though we grew apart after we graduated, I always felt that when I did see her it was like we never missed talking for one day. In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I am truly sorry for the loss of this wonderful person. Dawn was a true friend, a dedicated mother, and a loving wife. She had more energy and life within her than any twelve people I knew. I worked closely with Dawn at the 24th JDC and she went out of her way to make a guy from north Louisiana feel right at home. I will always remember how she could light up a room when she walked in. She was a beautiful person inside and out. The world is a little bit dimmer without her in it but I know that she is looking down on us all from her own personal cloud (which she is probably cleaning and redecorating) and wanting us to enjoy life as much as she did. I love you Dawn and will miss you forever.
