Donald Gauthier Obituary

GAUTHIER Donald James Gauthier, a veteran of the U.S. Navy who proudly served his country during the Korean War, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the age of 79. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends whom he had touched in some way throughout his life. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Joyce Hoffmann Gauthier. Loving father of Jeannine Albrecht (Mark), Julie Melson (Charlie), Joni Nunez (Bob), Jayne Ryan (Rickey) and Jill Neumann (Elliott). Son of Bella Genievive Landry Gauthier. Brother of Johnny Gauthier (Carolyn). Proud granddad of Nicole, Matt, Mindi, Angela, Nick, Rob, Rae, Megan, Elizabeth, Desi, Lindsey, Rickey, Tabitha, Travis and Elliott. He is also survived and fondly remembered by his 15 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins, relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Silvio Joseph Gauthier; his beloved granddaughter Crystal Comeaux and her son Matthew. Donald was a graduate of Nichols High School and attended Tulane University. He was the former president of the St. Bernard Jaycees, an avid golfer and gardener; a faithful parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Arabi for over 40 years (currently attending St. Charles Borromeo in Picayune) and organizer of the annual Fourth of July Celebration. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many, who loved his country and treasured his family. The family would like to thank Dr. Dan Tveit, along with the staff of Fresenius, Davita and St. Joseph Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, September 12th from 10:00AM - 1:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00PM.
