Donald "Ducky" Gibson

1962 - 2021

Donald "Ducky" Gibson, 58, of Avondale, LA, passed away on April 18, 2021. Ducky, as all his friends affectionately knew him by, was born in New Orleans on June 25, 1962 to Phildetta Gibson and the late Earl Gibson. He graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School and continued to receive an electrical license. He was currently self-employed. Ducky married his wife, Lawanda Gibson, of 36 years on January 25, 1985. He is survived by LaWanda (wife), four children (Khalik, LaDonica, Donald Jr., Kobe), Phildetta (mother), Khyrei (grandchild), and a host of family and friends. Ducky enjoyed spending time with his children/grandchildren, fishing, going to second lines, and hanging out with friends/family. Ducky is preceded in death by Earl Gibson (father), Charles Gibson (uncle), Torras Franklin (uncle), and Brandon Carter (cousin), Tommy Gibson (grandfather), Josephine Gibson (grandmother), Robert Adams (uncle), Lloyd Gibson (uncle), Junior "Mickey" (uncle), Rebecca Lee (aunt), Mary Jane (aunt), and Tommy Jr. (uncle). Visitation will be held April 24 at 1 pm, and the Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm at 1449 N. Claiborne Ave., New Orleans, LA 70116.
