Doris Chapman Woodbury

WOODBURY Doris Chapman Woodbury, 90, died of natural causes on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at her home in Denver, Colorado. A native of Helensburgh, Scotland, Doris came to New Orleans following World War II and her dedicated service in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force. She was a long time resident of New Orleans and Denver, dividing her time between the two with her late husband Homer Olwin Woodbury for 35 years. Doris was a founding member of the Colorado division of the Daughters of the British Empire and served as the organization's State President during the 1980's. During her time in New Orleans, Doris was an active member of Oak Park Presbyterian Church and the local chapter of the Daughters of the British Empire. She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Alan and Cathy Maynor of Houston, daughter Valerie Lobue of Denver, granddaughters Beth Fusco-Staggs of Houston and Jennifer Lobue of Denver, great-granddaughter Grace Fusco of Houston, sister-in-law Mae Weems of Tennessee, niece and nephew Fiona Bayliss and Stewart Hicks of Great Britain. The family is grateful for the longtime services of loving caregiver Pam Winberry. Doris is also survived by her constant companion of the last eight years, her beloved miniature poodle, Bonnie. Visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie, LA will be Thursday, August 23 from 11am to 1pm, followed by a graveside service and a gathering at the family's Lakeview home.
