Dr. Peter Liechty

Dr. Peter Liechty, age 49, was born July 6, 1975 to Donald George Liechty and Rita Mae Liechty (Snyder) in Ransom, Kansas. He passed away on September 5, 2024 in Thibodaux, Louisiana surrounded by family. Funeral services for Peter will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2024 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Thibodaux, Louisiana, under the direction of Thibodaux Funeral Home. Peter attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He graduated from The Rosalind Franklin University of Chicago Medical School and completed his internship in general surgery and residency in Neurosurgery at The University of Alabama-Birmingham. Peter was a respected member of the nation's major Neurosurgical organizations including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He was the founder and owner of One Spine Institute-Minimally Invasive Spine & Neurological Care in Metairie Louisiana. Peter was a beloved son, brother, husband, friend, and physician-surgeon. His life on earth was remarkable and impactful , and he touched many lives both professionally and personally. He was respected and loved by those who were blessed to know him. A man of remarkable character and inner strength, he accomplished everything through hard work , grit and determination. A man of many interests and passions Peter loved life, his family and his many friends. He lived life to the fullest, adopted the "work hard-play hard" approach to life and pursued excellence always. Peter, you exemplified everything "Top-Notch", "High-End", "Upper-Echelon" and "Excellent", we love you and miss you…Salut. He is survived by his Wife, Cherish Benoit; Mother, Rita Mae Liechty (James) Snyder; Sister, Anna (Cory) Wood; In-Laws: Lester and Jody Benoit, Jr.; Brother-In-Law, Britt Benoit; and beloved Blue-Luciano and Rosie. He was preceded in death by his Father, George Liechty; Mother-In-Law, Patricia A Peck; Brother-In-Law, Adam Benoit; previous wife, Nicole McClain Liechty; and his beloved Illy.
