Edgar N. "Shorty" Williams Sr.

1930 - 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a good man, Edgar N. "Shorty" Williams, Sr., age 89, who left this world peacefully at home while surrounded by his wife and son on Monday, December 7, 2020, sixteen days shy of his 90th birthday. Edgar was born on December 23, 1930 to the late George Williams, Sr. and Myrtle Mackey Williams in New Orleans, LA. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his only brother, George Williams, Jr; sisters, Dolores Williams James, Doris Williams Curtis and a son, Donald J. Williams. Edgar is survived by his beloved wife of 70-plus years, Marguerite O. Williams and his son, Edgar Williams, Jr; beloved grandchildren, Derrick M. Williams, Chris J. Williams, Adona Williams Campbell, Deana Williams, Sheletta Chapital Mackie, Shelly Chapital Autman and Edward Johnson, Jr.; great grandchildren, Ervin Mitchell, Jr., Amaya Mitchell, Arianna Daniels, Cole Williams, Derrian Williams, Alivia Williams, Myla Allen, Anthony Mackie, Jr., McCoy Mackie, August Mackie, Mathis Mackie and Logan Autman; former daughters in law, Stephanie Ancar Williams, Patricia Guidry Alford and Sheila Chapital, along with his special longtime family friend, Pearlie Tyler, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Edgar was a fun loving man with a gift. He knew how to make people laugh, and left an unforgettable impression on those who knew and loved him. He brought much joy and cheer to all whom he met and will be greatly missed. It's been said, "As long as you are remembered, you live on!" He will be remembered and will live in our hearts for a long, long time. A Funeral Service honoring the life of Mr. Edgar N. "Shorty" Williams, Sr. will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 10 a.m. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, "in person visitation will be limited". Everyone in attendance is required to adhere to all restrictions. You must wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Interment St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery, 3421 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA.
