Edward Lester Guin

Edward Lester Guin, 93, of Mandeville, LA died peacefully at home on July 21, 2023. Ed was born in Columbus, MS and was preceded in death by his parents William Lester and Rosa M. Guin of the New Hope Community of Columbus, MS, siblings Halton M. Guin and Nancy L. Lollar. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Ann Ball Guin, daughter Debra Guin Schmitt (Brian) of Myrtle Beach, SC, son Charles (Chuck) Guin (Vicki) of Mandeville, LA, grandsons Charles (Drew) Guin of New Orleans, LA, Eric Guin of Houston, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed grew up on a dairy farm, met Ann on a blind date, married and left to serve in the Korean War. After returning, he became a police officer before moving his family to New Orleans in 1957. He went to Warren Easton High School to earn his GED while pursuing a career in sales with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company that spanned over 30 years. In retirement, Ed dabbled in real estate, founded PenGuin Brokerage Company and after moving to Mandeville began a lawn mower repair service. His talents were not limited to repairing things. He was an accomplished carpenter, planted an annual vegetable garden and enjoyed the harvest of his fruit trees in the fall. The family would like to express their appreciation to the dedicated team of care providers for their loving support. Visitation will be held at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home,75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA 70435, Friday July 28, 2023 from 3 to 4:30 pm followed by a service. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbus, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Timothy on the Northshore. Bagnell & Son Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
